Christoph Waltz is reportedly interested in playing the baddie in the fifth Pirates Of The Caribbean film.

The Oscar-winning actor is rumoured to be keen on taking the role of Captain Brand in Dead Men Tell No Tales, reported the Daily Mail.

Captain Brand - an arch-nemesis to Johnny Depp's Captain Jack Sparrow - is a ghost searching for the Trident, which Jack and his team are also looking for, so he can get his revenge on Jack who he blames for his brother's death.

Rolling Stones star Keith Richards is also rumoured to reprise his role as Jack's swashbuckling dad, Captain Teague, in the fifth instalment.

"After months of talks, Keith has signed on to rejoin Johnny Depp in this fifth Pirates film," a source said.

Keith, whose look inspired Johnny's character, has appeared in two previous Pirates Of The Caribbean films: 2007's At World's End and 2011's On Stranger Tides. He hinted in 2012 that he would be up for returning for another sea adventure.

"I spoke to Johnny a couple of weeks ago and he said, 'Are you up for another one?' I can leave it at that because I know no more, but I do have the costume!" he said in 2012.

Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales was originally scheduled to launch in July 2015, but has been pushed back with a new release date yet to be announced by Disney.

The fifth Pirates film, which will be directed by Kon-Tiki filmmakers Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg, is expected to begin production in 2015, in time for a release in 2016.
