Video: Toy Story remake goes viral as amateurs use real toys to recreate entire movie

IT’S one way of getting your heroes to notice you. Two aspiring filmmakers, Jonason Pauley (19) and Jesse Perrotta (21), who wanted to get the attention of animation studio Pixar, made a Toy Story tribute movie.

Rather than try to compete with Pixar’s ground-breaking animation, the Californian pair filmed a live-action version of one of their favourite films – Toy Story.

The film was posted on the internet last Saturday and has since gone viral – racking up over 1.5million hits on YouTube in just three days. The shot-for-shot remake is made with children’s voices and wires to manipulate toys.

Pauley and Perrotta used their parents’ homes as filming locations, as well as roping in about 150 friends to help out. The whole project cost €1,000 (€750) to make.

And their motivation? Simply to get an invite to visit the Pixar studio to see how their favourite movies are really made.

The pair have previous when it comes to remaking Toy Story – their live-action remake of the climactic scene of Toy Story 3 has already been viewed almost three million times on YouTube.

And what do Pixar think of it? The studio confirmed that they had received their tribute but haven’t said what will they’ll do next.
