THE Jameson Dublin International Film Festival kicked off last night with a gala screening of the first film directed by 'IT Crowd' star Richard Ayoade.
Best known for playing Moss in the Channel 4 comedy, the 34-year-old has won rave reviews for his directorial debut, which tells the story of an awkward Welsh teenager who tries to save his parents' failing marriage.
Ayoade admitted that having worked on the film for the past few years, sitting down to watch it repeatedly at movie premieres, including in Dublin's Savoy Cinema last night, could get a bit wearing.
"You've watched it enough at this point," he joked.
But it seemed Irish audiences liked it, given the rapturous applause after last night's screening.
Among the cast members and invited guests was actor Kevin J Ryan.
The 24-year-old from Ballinteer, Dublin, is set to hit the big time this year in his new film 'Tripping Tommy'.
