Thor stars battle for Rising Star
Tom Hiddleston will battle it out against Thor co-star Chris Hemsworth for the Bafta Orange Wednesdays Rising Star Award 2012.
The two Hollywood hunks are among the eight actors revealed on the longlist of nominees, along with Jennifer Lawrence, who won an Oscar nomination for her appearance in Winter's Bone.
The IT Crowd's Chris O'Dowd is also on the list after his appearance in hit comedy Bridesmaids, as well as Chalet Girl's Felicity Jones and The Tree of Life's Jessica Chastain.
The other nominees on the long list are British actor Adam Deacon, who wrote and directed hoodie comedy Anuvahood and Eddie Redmayne, who appears opposite Michelle Williams in My Week With Marilyn.
The rising stars were selected by a jury who included Simon Pegg, Sienna Miller and Harry Potter director David Yates.
The five shortlisted nominees will be announced in January, picked by Orange mobile phone customers.
The winner will be voted for by the public, and announced as part of the British Academy Film Award ceremony on February 12.
Past winners include Kristen Stewart, Shia LaBeouf and James McAvoy.
Last year the award went to Inception's Tom Hardy, who is now set to star as villain Bane in new Batman film The Dark Knight.
