I Am Number Four star Teresa Palmer has admitted she has a reputation as the woman who "deflowered" Harry Potter.

The 24-year-old Australian actress played Daniel Radcliffe's love interest Lucy in December Boys, his first film role outside Harry Potter, a coming-of-age movie in which Daniel's character loses his virginity to Lucy.

Teresa joked: "I feel like my claim to fame is like I was the deflowerer of Harry Potter - someone had to do it."

She added: "That was very interesting that film, December Boys, everyone knew me from that and I would always get that same question, 'What was it like kissing Harry Potter?'. And Daniel Radcliffe's lovely, he's such a talented actor."

Teresa plays alien Number Six in the sci-fi thriller I Am Number Four - about a group of young aliens each given a number who come to hide on earth after their planet is destroyed - and she is already keen to make a sequel.

The actress said: "For me it's a no brainer. I don't think we've had enough of I Am Number Four. I really want to see the story continue on and I would embrace being part of a franchise.

"In this first movie when Six comes into the movie she's very mysterious and you don't really know if she's one of the good guys or one of the bad guys, and I just want to explore and develop her further and also to see the dynamic between Four and Six."

:: I Am Number Four is released in cinemas on February 23.
