Tenth Iftas should be the best yet

2012 was a great year for Irish film and television and so 2013's Irish Film and Television Awards are set to be a big hit.

They're happening this coming Saturday in the Convention Centre and will be the awards' 10th evening of gongs and glamour. Hit film, What Richard Did, based on the book Bad Day in Blackrock, is nominated for best film and best director.

Roisin Murphy, from the same movie, is in the running for best actress. Also up for the coveted female acting award is Seana Kerslake in her debut role in Kirsten Sheridan's Dollhouse. Justifiably, RET's Love/Hate is up for awards in nearly every category.

In the international film category, there's the Ben Affleck-directed Argo about the Iranian hostage crisis, as well as Spielberg directing Daniel Day-Lewis in the multi-Oscar nominated Lincoln.

It'll be a glamorous evening and we can all enjoy it: it's being broadcast on RTE1 at 9.30pm on February 9.
