Catherine Tate has joked that Martin Clunes was more of a pain than the children and animals in her new film, Nativity 3: Dude, Where's My Donkey?
The comedienne, 46, got into the Christmas spirit as she wore a silver jumper featuring a perfume bottle at the film's UK premiere, where she joined her co-stars Martin and Marc Wootton at Vue West End.
"It was absolutely fine. Everyone thinks it's going to be absolutely awful but it's not at all," the mother-of-one said of working with both kids and animals.
"I had a donkey and he was so cute, and the children were lovely. Because of the rules about working with children and animals, you only get to have them in 10-minute blocks so it's not long enough for any of them to get annoying."
However, Catherine joked about screen fiance Martin: " Martin's really annoying and there's no regulations surrounding him so we had him all day, which wasn't as good."
EastEnders and Strictly Come Dancing star Jake Wood attended the screening with wife Alison Murray and their two children, while Natalie Cassidy and Imogen Thomas brought their children out for the day. X Factor singer Jake Quickenden, who was booted out of the ITV competition, was also there.
The third instalment, which also stars Celia Imrie, sees Martin playing a school inspector who loses his memory after being kicked by a donkey. The school children partake in flash mobs to help him regain his memory.
"He forgets about Christmas, forgets he's about to marry Catherine Tate on Christmas Eve in New York and forgets he has a daughter, so Mr Poppy (played by Marc) and the children have to reteach him the story of his life and Christmas through the medium of flash mob," Martin explained.
Writer-director Debbie Isitt added: "There's lots more music in it and flash mobbing. It's bigger, lots of fun and gives you that Christmas feeling. It's also a bit more emotional than the others."
Nativity 3: Dude, Where's My Donkey? opens in UK cinemas on November 14.
