Don Johnson could be making a screen comeback in Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained.

The Inglourious Basterds filmmaker has apparently offered the role of wealthy plantation owner Spencer Bennett to the 80s Miami Vice star, Deadline reported.

If Don says yes to the part, he would join a star-studded cast which already includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Samuel L Jackson and Kurt Russell.

Jamie is set to take the titular role of a freed slave, who teams up with a bounty hunter (played by Christoph). Leonardo has been cast as an evil plantation owner, while Samuel is his right-hand man.

Filming on the controversial spaghetti western is due to begin in coming weeks.

Don, who shot to fame playing Detective James 'Sonny' Crockett in US TV series Miami Vice, has appeared in 2010's Machete and TV series Eastbound And Down, but his last major film role was in 1996's Tin Cup opposite Kevin Costner and Rene Russo.
