Diablo Cody has revealed that the upcoming Sweet Valley High movie is going to be a musical.
The Oscar-winning Juno screenwriter is writing and producing the big-screen adaptation of the popular teen novel series.
"I am so excited about Sweet Valley High. There's original songs being written for it right now, which is the most exciting development," she told MTV News.
"They're amazing. They're being written by these Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning songwriters from Broadway who are the best - Brian Yorkey and Tom Kitt, who wrote [the Broadway show] Next To Normal; they're amazing and I'm sorry, I could go on and on."
Diablo - who also wrote Young Adult and Jennifer's Body - added: "Sweet Valley High is going to blow people's minds. I haven't really had the chance to talk about this yet, so it's exciting."
Before the 33-year-old gets to work on the Sweet Valley High script, which centres around identical Californian twins Jessica and Elizabeth Wakefield and their high school exploits, she will rewrite the script for a remake of Sam Raimi's 1980s horror film The Evil Dead.
