Star-studded line up confirmed for The Fastnet Film Festival
THE Fastnet Film Festival has secured a galaxy of stars for its 2017 programme including Stephen Frears, former BBC director general Greg Dyke and Irish directors Jim Sheridan and Lenny Abrahamson.
The festival, which runs until May 28, now ranks as the fastest growing 'boutique' film event in Europe.
From humble beginnings, the innovative festival now attracts the top film directors, producers and actors from across Europe and North America.
It is hosted in a range of west Cork towns and villages - and made headlines by bringing mobile cinemas to tiny hamlets for festival events a number of years ago.
The highlight of this year's festival, which opened on Wednesday, will be a screening by UK director Stephen Frears of his two films, 'The Programme' and 'Florence Foster Jenkins', in Schull.
Former BBC director Greg Dyke will then host a special question and answer session with the audience.

Festival officials admitted they were absolutely delighted to have secured the participation of Mr Frears who is a multi-Academy Award nominated director.
His credits include 'My Beautiful Laundrette', Dangerous Liaisons', 'The Grifters', 'The Van', 'The Snapper', 'Tamara Drew', 'The Queen' and 'Philomena'.
