Sophia Loren has joked that there is no secret to her beauty as she attended an evening celebrating her film career in Los Angeles.
The 80-year-old Italian actress looked stunning as she walked the red carpet at the AFI Fest, ahead of an evening paying tribute to her 64-year career on screen.
Asked the secret to her incredible beauty, Sophia replied: "There is no secret - I was born beautiful," before adding with a laugh: "I'm joking!"
The evening began with a screening of 1964 film Marriage Italian Style, in which she played the mistress of a wealthy businessman, co-starring Marcello Mastroianni and directed by Vittorio De Sica, both of whom she worked with many times.
Sophia said of the film: "It was a long time ago, but it was a really wonderful moment of our lives, my life and Marcello's life and De Sica. It was a film done with all our hearts.
"And still nowadays when they show it, it's a film you can see today like it was done yesterday."
Asked if she thought the film industry had changed since she began her career, Sophia replied: " There's always a camera, there's always a story, sometimes beautiful, sometimes not so beautiful."
