Smith and Washington to team up?
Will Smith and Denzel Washington could finally be joining forces for a remake of Uptown Saturday Night.
The two Hollywood superstars, who have wanted to work together for a while, are in the frame to play friends who get robbed when they visit an illegal nightclub, with Adam McKay in talks to direct, reported Deadline.
Will will also co-produce the project through his production company Overbrook Entertainment.
Bill Cosby and Sir Sidney Poitier played the roles of the two pals in the original 1974 comedy, which was also directed by Poitier and features Harry Belafonte, Flip Wilson and Richard Pryor in supporting parts.
McKay, who previously directed The Other Guys and Talladega Nights, is expected to begin work on Uptown Saturday Night once he completes the Anchorman sequel.
Will - who last appeared in 2008 dramas Hancock and Seven Pounds - is set to make his big-screen comeback in Men In Black III alongside Tommy Lee Jones, while Denzel, who previously starred in action thriller Safe House with Ryan Reynolds, has two upcoming action thrillers in The Matarese Circle and Flight.
