Silverstone proud of Clueless role
Alicia Silverstone insists she does not feel she has been typecast because of her famous role as a ditzy teenager in Clueless.
The 35-year-old actress starred as Cher in the hit 1995 movie and recently teamed back up with director Amy Heckerling for her new film Vamps.
Alicia told New York Magazine's Vulture blog she is "not at all" tired of being remembered for her Clueless role.
She said: "Maybe to some people I'll always be that girl, but that's totally fine. Clueless was a really good movie. Maybe people didn't hire me for things, but it's none of my business. I'm not in those rooms, so I can only imagine - and what's the point in that?"
In Vamps, Alicia stars as Goody, a 200-year-old vampire living life as a single girl in present-day Manhattan with her much younger best friend, Stacy (Krysten Ritter), who doesn't know her secret.
Alicia praised Amy for the script.
"I don't think Amy likes to be clever just to be clever," she said.
"And I'm assuming that's what she responds to with me: I bring that heart to it. [She] writes in a really cool way, where it can seem surface-y, but underneath there's this lovely thing going on with friendship and disappointment."
