Sophie McShera has become the second Downton Abbey actress to join the cast of Disney's Cinderella.

She is set to play one of the wicked stepsisters of the title character, played by Downton co-star Lily James, said Deadline.

Both Sophie, who is Downton's maid Daisy Mason and Lily (Lady Rose MacClare) will star in the Kenneth Branagh-directed movie which begins filming later this year.

Joining Sophie in her evil sibling role will be Holliday Grainger, star of TV series The Borgias.

Cate Blanchett is set to play the vindictive Lady Tremaine, while Game Of Thrones' Richard Madden will be Cinderella's Prince Charming.

Sophie is due to start filming in September after she finishes work on the fourth series of Downton Abbey in August.

The live-action film Cinderella is set to be released in cinemas in March 2015.
