Ridley Scott will produce a new movie version of Agatha Christie's Murder On The Orient Express

Ridley Scott is planning to remake Murder On The Orient Express.

The filmmaker will produce a new adaptation of Agatha Christie's 1934 murder-mystery alongside Simon Kinberg and Mark Gordon, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

They are rebooting the story for Fox, which has acquired the screen rights to the tale.

Ridley is not expected to direct.

The story - which sees Belgian detective Hercule Poirot investigating a murder on a train - was turned into a film starring Albert Finney, Lauren Bacall and Vanessa Redgrave in 1974.

It was nominated for several Academy Awards and Ingrid Bergman picked up the best supporting actress statuette.

A made for television version starring Alfred Molina was released in 2001.
