Martin Scorsese is eyeing up a film about the romance between Dame Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, it has been reported.
The Oscar-winning filmmaker would sit in the director's chair for the movie, which would focus on the torrid and tempestuous romance between the Hollywood legends, Deadline reports.
It is expected to be based on Furious Love, the book by Sam Kashner and Nancy Schoenberger, which includes the love letters the actor wrote to Dame Elizabeth over the years after they met - and fell in love - on the set of Cleopatra, despite their respective spouses.
The couple, who tied the knot in 1964, got divorced ten years later, but remarried the following year, only to divorce a second time in 1976.
Dame Elizabeth, who passed away in March, and Richard, who died in 1984, were thought of as one of Hollywood's most iconic couples.
Martin is currently working on a biopic about Frank Sinatra, having finished Hugo Cabret, his first 3D film.
