Samantha Morton to reap The Harvest
Samantha Morton is set to star in The Harvest.
The Oscar-nominated actress is apparently playing one half of a married couple, with Michael Shannon portraying her screen husband in the psychological thriller, reported Variety.
Director John McNaughton, whose last film was 1998's Wild Things, is returning to the director's chair after more than a decade to take control of the drama, which has been written by Stephen Lancellotti.
"This is the first horror script I've been interested in in 25 years, so it's kind of cool to return to the genre," he said.
"I got the script a few years ago and loved the story, which is dark and has a great twist. It's like a cross between Hansel And Gretel and Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf."
Production on The Harvest, which focuses on the couple and their clinically ill son, is currently underway in New York.
Samantha, who last starred in sci-fi adventure John Carter and drama Cosmopolis, will next be seen in Spike Jonze's Her.
Michael, who got an Oscar nod for his performance in Revolutionary Road and has been praised by critics for Take Shelter, will play General Zod in Zack Snyder's Man Of Steel.
