Ryan heading behind the cameras
Meg Ryan is to make her feature directorial debut with Into The Beautiful.
After three decades being in front of the cameras, the Golden Globe-nominated actress - best known for her rom-com roles - is set to work behind the scenes on the comedy drama penned by Anne Meredith, reported Variety.
Details of casting have yet to be revealed, but it is thought there are no plans to include Meg in the line-up at the moment.
Producer Wendy Finerman (PS I Love You) told Variety: "I'm often drawn to pictures that make you laugh and cry. I think this is the perfect project for Meg to bring to life. She's poignant and funny and heartfelt."
Described as "a contemporary Big Chill with longtime friends reconnecting", Into The Beautiful is scheduled to start filming in New York in September.
Meg, who became a household name after her performances in romantic comedies like When Harry Met Sally, Sleepless In Seattle and You've Got Mail, has been taking a step back from the spotlight in recent years.
Her last big role was in The Women alongside Annette Bening, Eva Mendes and Jada Pinkett Smith, which won her a Golden Raspberry nomination for Worst Actress.
The 49-year-old's next big-screen outing will be in drama Lives Of The Saints with rapper 50 Cent and Kat Dennings.
