Ryan Gosling’s face as Emma Stone accepts her Oscar proves they’re Hollywood’s best friends
As they’ve toured the world promoting La La Land, it has become so clear that Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone have developed a seriously enviable Hollywood friendship.
Last night, Stone won her first Academy Award for her role in the musical and in her acceptance speech, the actress thanked Gosling for being the "greatest partner" she's ever starred alongside.
"Ryan Gosling, thank you for making me laugh and for always raising the bar and being the greatest partner on this crazy adventure."
As Stone thanked the Academy, Gosling could not tear his eyes away from his friend who he said he was "lucky" to have been cast alongside.
Speaking ahead of the ceremony, Gosling said: "It’s so much fun working with her.
"You get a connection through improvisation that you don’t really get any other way, so we were lucky to be able to do that," he said.
Meanwhile, Stone commented on Sunday's Academy Awards blunder, in which actor Warren Beatty announced La La Land as the winner of the best picture, when in fact, it was Moonlight that had won the Academy Award.
The mistake was said to have been the result of a card mix-up and was only realised halfway through La La Land producer Jordan Horowitz's acceptance speech.
Speaking of the mistake, Emma said she struggled to understand how it happened: "I f*****g love Moonlight. I think it's one of the best movies of all time. When it happened I was just on such a buzzy stage, I was already on another planet. I think it's a good outcome but a very strange happening for Oscar history."
"I was holding my best actress in a leading role card the entire time. I don't mean to start stuff but whatever story that was - I have that card," she said.
"So I'm not sure what happened and I really wanted to talk to you guys first."
