Rob Lowe says he fully embraces his status as a former member of the Brat Pack.
The star, 47, admitted that when the phrase was first coined, by a critic, "it wasn't a good thing".
"It was used in an underhanded, veiled way to say, this group of actors are interchangeable, vacuous, long on ambition, short on talent and very entitled," he said.
"While that may have been true in doses for some people, it was a bad generalisation," he said, adding: "Now, there's no stigma left and I totally embrace it."
The West Wing star, who has also enjoyed success in Wayne's World and Brothers And Sisters, said of life since being an Eighties heartthrob: "All of us on a daily basis have the opportunity to move forward, backward or stay put.
"Today, I know to move forward."
