Richard Jenkins is in talks to join One Shot alongside Tom Cruise.
The Oscar-nominated actor is said to be considering a role in Christopher McQuarrie's big-screen adaptation of Lee Child's book, Variety reports.
The 64-year-old - who is best known for his work in funeral TV series Six Feet Under - would play the town's district attorney, who is also prosecutor of a case about a military sniper accused of five murders, with Rosamund Pike as his lawyer daughter.
Tom is already on board as ex-military man Jack Reacher who gets drawn into investigating the case.
David Oyelowo rounds out the current cast, as a homicide detective in charge of investigating the killings.
Filming for One Shot is set to get underway in coming months, with a release planned for 2013.
