BAYWATCH actor David Hasselhoff has confirmed that he will star in the new movie remake of the hit lifeguard drama – however not in his original role as Mitch Buchannon.

The remake of the drama is being written by Peter Tolan for Paramount. Hasselhoff told the Daily Telegraph: “I've just met the guy writing the film. I'm going to play myself”.

“We're trying to make it a very cool, updated version” he continued. The new version is rumored to be set around a former Olympic swimmer who joins the Baywatch team, after being disgraced by a drugs scandal. Justin Timberlake is said to be considering taking the role.

Baywatch left TV screens after a 12 year run in 2001. The show made an international star out of Hasselhoff, as well as Canadian actress Pamela Anderson, who played CJ Parker.
