Rachel Weisz and Richard E Grant score Oscar nominations

British screen stars Rachel Weisz and Richard E Grant have been nominated for Oscars.

Weisz is nominated for her role in The Favourite, and is up against Amy Adams for Vice, Regina King for If Beale Street Could Talk, Marina De Tavira for Roma, and her The Favourite co-star Emma Stone.

Grant is nominated for his for part in Can You Ever Forgive Me?

Also earning nods were Mahershala Ali for Green Book, Sam Rockwell for Vice, Adam Driver for BlacKkKlansman, Sam Elliott for A Star Is Born, and Mary Poppins Returns was nominated for original score.

The nominations were announced on Tuesday by Tracee Ellis Ross and Kumail Nanjiani.

The 91st Academy Awards will take place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on February 24.
