Natalie Portman is apparently in "early discussions" to appear in Ridley Scott's The Counsellor.
The Oscar-winning Black Swan star, who has been laying low to focus on motherhood, is said to be the director's leading choice for the role of Laura, Twitchfilm.com reported.
It would be one of Natalie's first roles since she gave birth to son Aleph in June 2011, although she has also signed up for two Terrence Malick films, Knight Of Cups and Lawless.
Michael Fassbender is already confirmed to be playing a successful lawyer who ends up in a desperate situation after dabbling in the drug business in the movie, which was penned by Cormac McCarthy.
Javier Bardem and Jeremy Renner are reportedly in the running to play the villain, with both having "preliminary conversations with producers" about the part, which Brad Pitt was earlier linked to.
Director Ridley is tipped to have picked Javier as his top choice for the role, following his Oscar-winning villainous turn in No Country For Old Men.
The filmmaker is apparently planning to make The Counsellor his next project, although it is not known when filming is expected to begin.
