Polanski film leads European gongs
Roman Polanski's The Ghost leads the European Film Awards, having scooped seven nominations.
Also known as The Ghost Writer, the political thriller starring Pierce Brosnan and Ewan McGregor received nods for best film, best director, best screenwriter and best actor for Ewan.
The Ghost, which was completed while the Polish-French filmmaker was under house arrest, is up against Turkish film Honey, Gods And Monsters, anti-war drama Lebanon, comedy Soul Kitchen and Spanish Oscar-winner The Secret In Their Eyes in the best film category.
Lebanon, directed by Israeli's Samuel Maoz, received five nominations from the European Film Academy, while Honey picked up three.
The winners of this year's European Film Awards will be chosen by the 2,300 members of the European Film Academy and will pick up their prizes in Tallinn, Estonia, on December 4.
