Brad Pitt is joining his friend George Clooney in gay marriage play 8.
The heartthrob - who has previously said that he and partner Angelina Jolie won't marry until it is legal for everyone to do so - will play United States District Chief Judge Vaughn R Walker in Dustin Lance Black's production about the legal fight to overturn Proposition 8 in California, reports Access Hollywood.
Walker ruled that Proposition 8 was unconstitutional after a highly publicised trial in 2010.
Clooney, Brad's co-star in the Ocean's Eleven films, will portray one of the lawyers in the case in the one-off play.
Other Hollywood stars taking part include Martin Sheen, Jane Lynch, Kevin Bacon, Jamie Lee Curtis and Matthew Morrison.
The play will be staged in Los Angeles on Saturday March 3.
