Pine: Working with Banks was blast
Chris Pine has praised his People Like Us co-star Elizabeth Banks as "one of the smartest women" he has worked with.
The pair play siblings in the new family drama, and Chris revealed at the film's Los Angeles premiere that he loved working with The Hunger Games actress.
"Liz is great, just one of the smartest women I've worked with. She is really funny, really quick, she doesn't suffer fools," he said.
"Being able to play off someone that sharp and that quick was a blast."
The film, which also stars Michelle Pfeiffer, sees Chris's character given the task of delivering some of his dead father's fortune to a sister he has never met (played by Elizabeth).
"I pretty much knew right off the bat after I read it that it was something I wanted to do, which doesn't happen many times," he said.
"I liked Sam, the character I play, for all of his faults and for all of his fallibility and his not doing the right thing. I appreciate his trying his best to be honest with himself, which I think he learns to do throughout the film."
Chris said the film's message is a universal one.
"What people absolutely connect with, without a doubt, is the reality of family.
"We all have one and this film will make you think about your relationships with your own family and whether or not you've talked to your mom in a while, whether or not you've talked to your brother or sister in a while, the fact you only have one family and the choice you really have is whether you're going to love them and accept them for who they are, or travel your lifetime in anger, bitterness and resentment - all of which are things we can fall into."
