Penelope Cruz to be next Bond girl?
Penelope Cruz is reportedly set to become the oldest Bond girl, after being cast in the new James Bond film.
The actress is set to turn 40 next April and according to Yahoo is signed up to appear in Bond 24 with Daniel Craig, which begins shooting next year.
A production insider told the website: "The producers have tried to get Penelope before, but she has never been available because of other commitments. The discussions have been going on for some time and they are working out the contract details now.
"She'll be a great Bond girl. Bond girls are always brainy as well as sexy, and that's totally Penelope."
Penelope would take the title of oldest Bond girl from Honor Blackman, who was 39 when she played Pussy Galore in Goldfinger in 1962.
Oscar-winning actress Penelope is currently pregnant with her second child with husband Javier Bardem, who played villain Raoul Silva in Skyfall last year. They also have a two-year-old son together.
According to The Metro, Penelope previously said she had wanted to be a Bond girl "ever since Diana Rigg [in On Her Majesty's Secret Service]". She said: "I loved her role, so strong and powerful."
Skyfall director Sam Mendes, who had previously ruled himself out of taking the reins on the next 007 film, is now in talks to return.
