Gary Oldman has apparently signed on for the RoboCop remake.
The Oscar-nominated actor is to play Norton, the scientist responsible for saving part-man, part-machine Alex Murphy, reported Heat Vision blog.
But Norton "finds himself torn" between trying to rediscover the humanity of the machine and the callous needs of a corporation, the blog added.
The Killing's Joel Kinnaman is already on board as RoboCop in the new version, to be directed by Brazilian filmmaker Jose Padilha and scheduled for a 2013 release.
Gary - who received his first Oscar nod for his performance in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy - will next be seen as Commissioner Jim Gordon in The Dark Knight Rises.
He is about to start shooting action film Motor City opposite Gerard Butler and is set to star alongside Harrison Ford and Liam Hemsworth in thriller Paranoia.
