No frog snog for Anika Noni Rose
Anika Noni Rose may kiss a frog in The Princess And The Frog, but she has no plans to pucker up to any slimy creatures in real life.
The actress, who voices the character Tiana in the new Disney film, said: "I can't say that I would - I think I would skip the frog!"
She added: "But I would pick up the frog and give it a little rub on the head - I do like frogs, as long as it's not bigger than the palm of my hand."
Anika, who had three auditions before winning the role, can see herself in Tiana - a gutsy 19-year-old who has dreams of opening her own restaurant - even though their lives are on very different paths.
"I think there's a lot of her in me and me in her. I think we're very similar, and I don't often portray someone who's similar to myself," the 37-year-old said.
"I certainly share her determination to succeed, and the ability to dream very big. I also had to learn to make time for life while pursuing my dream."
She recalled: "It occurred to me one day, watching a snippet of [the film], I said, 'Oh my goodness, that's my journey'. It's the journey of anyone who dreams really big and reaches for the star that is seen but seems far, far away. I understand that journey deeply within myself, so I know her very well."
:: The Princess And The Frog will be released on Friday February 5.
