Robert Pattinson may be fearless when it comes to vampires, but the Twilight star has revealed what really makes him scared - clowns.
The heartthrob, who stars in new circus film Water For Elephants, developed the phobia after a family outing turned into a tragedy.
He told the Today Show in the US: "The first time I went to the circus somebody died. One of the clowns died. His little car exploded. The joke car exploded on him. Seriously."
He went on: "Everybody ran out. It was terrifying... the only time I've ever been to the circus."
The 24-year-old had to confront his long-held fears when he landed the role as a vet in Water For Elephants, which also stars Oscar-winner Reese Witherspoon.
The film is due for release in the UK on May 4, with Robert and Reese expected to attend the London premiere on May 3.
