Mike Myers isn't completely closed to the idea of doing a fifth Shrek film.

The funnyman reprises his role as title ogre Shrek in the fourth instalment Shrek Forever After, which has been described as "the final chapter".

Asked about the possibility of doing another film, Mike told Entertainment Tonight: "The door may not be locked but it's definitely latched."

Cameron Diaz, who plays his on-screen wife Fiona, added: "It's a nice closing, the last chapter, and it's elegantly done. You get to see Fiona and Shrek fall in love again, which is really lovely.

"We spent the last two films going through these rites of passage for both their lives, particularly Shrek's, and this is the one that comes back around to the two of them again."

Mike, who loves "being a part of this", said he didn't even see the other actors like Eddie Murphy (Donkey) and Antonio Banderas (Puss In Boots) during filming.

"We never had to see each other. We only saw each other today, but I love the characters so much that I miss Donkey if I haven't seen Donkey," he said. "I miss Fiona if I haven't seen Fiona, so I get very excited."

:: Shrek Forever After will be released in UK cinemas on July 2.
