Doc Brown has taken time out of his time-travelling shenanigans today to release a special message to fans of Back to the Future.

It's Back to the Future Day, 21st October 2015, which is the day that Marty McFly flew to from 1985. So this means the future has finally arrived.

For those who are a little disconcerted by this reality, Doc Brown has a message of reassurance.

Speaking from inside a shiny silver DeLorean he says, "Great Scott!  If my calculations are correct it is now precisely October 21st 2015.  The future has finally arrived.  Yes, it's different than we all though, but don't worry, it just means your future hasn't been written yet.  No ones has.  Your future is whatever you make of it so make it a good one."

And with that he's off.

It warmed the cockles of some people's hearts to be addressed by Doc (played by veteran actor Christopher Lloyd).  @Pender-Holmes took to Twitter to say, "@UniversalEnt @BacktotheFuture *Starts to cry* OMG thank you, Doc!"

However, others were unimpressed with the content of his message.

"@UniversalEnt @BackToTheFuture Wait, that's the "explanation" we waited a week for? To recite the same lines from the end of the movie? LAME" wrote @robertmclaws

The message appeared on Universal Pictures Home Entertainment Twitter to announce the release of the 30th anniversary Blu Ray and DVD trilogies which are available to buy now.

Back to the Future Day: What did the 1980s sci-fi classic get right about 2015?
