Watch: The trailer has landed for Nick Loeb's anti-abortion film Roe v Wade
The trailer for controversial anti-abortion film Roe v Wade has been released.
Co-written and co-directed by conservative entrepreneur Nick Loeb, who previously sued his ex Sofia Vergara over the rights to their frozen embryos, it is a pro-life film aimed at challenging the landmark 1973 US supreme court ruling that a state law banning abortions (except to save the life of the mother) was unconstitutional.
Jon Voight plays chief justice of the Supreme Court at the time, Warren Burger, while Stacey Dash plays Dr Mildred Jefferson, who co-founded the National Right to Life Committee. Joey Lawrence, Steve Guttenberg, Corbin Bernsen, and Jamie Kennedy have also been cast in the film.
The trailer features conservative Brett Kavanaugh’s appointment to the Supreme Court with the dialogue, “It will flip the decision”. Other dialogue includes, “We have been in our second civil war for over 50 years now”, and “This is a conspiracy”.
Loeb has been vocal in his opposition to abortion. In July last year he told the Washington Post, “I dated girls when I was in my 20s, two that had abortions that I really did nothing to stop.
“My generation, you were really taught it was a clump of cells... really nothing there when a woman got pregnant, especially until you felt maybe something kick. And as I got older and more educated and more informed, I realized that wasn’t true.”
Speaking to Vanity Fair, however, he claimed both pro-life and pro-choice views are represented in the film.
“The movie is about the women’s rights movement versus the pro-life movement,” he said. “It’s a social war movie where we take both sides of the argument and hopefully let the audience decide.”
A release date for the film has yet to be announced.
