Feature documentary 'Amy', exploring the life and career of the late Amy Winehouse, has been given an Irish release date.

Wildcard Distribution will partner with Altitude Film Entertainment to distribute the film in Ireland, with a release date of July 3.

Senna director Asif Kapadia helms Amy, an intimate portrait of the singer whose second album 'Back to Black' sold over 20m copies worldwide and whose tragic death in 2011 at the age of 27 sent fans into mourning.

The film premiered at Cannes on Saturday and has been garnering rave reviews with The Independent calling it "brilliant" and Deadline naming it as the early favourite for Best Documentary Oscar.

'Amy' has been assembled from extensive archive material including Amy's own home movies, photographs, handwritten song lyrics, early demos, and personal interviews with friends, family, and creative collaborators.

Amy will be released in Irish cinemas on July 3rd 2015.
