Industry insiders suggest that current star Daniel Craig is set to hand over the coveted role sooner rather than later.

The Mirror report that the Londoner have been given "an unofficial nod" confirming that he tops the list of Bond successors.

Lewis topped the UK bookies list to be the next 007 a mere 3 months ago, but recently speculation is mounting that Tom Hardy is best placed to assume the iconic character's identity.

Meanwhile another esteemed actor's name has been thrown into the mix.

Idris Elba, of The Wire and Lewis fame, is rumoured to be in with a shot at being the first black actor to play Bond.

Spectre opens in cinemas on 26 October, and promises to wow fans of the franchise.
