Sherlock star Andrew Scott will be voting Yes in the the upcoming Referendum on the Eighth.

In recent weeks, many male sport stars, artists and high profile figures have come forward and lent their support to the Together For Yes side.

Asked about his thoughts on the upcoming referendum Scott said; “I am going to be voting yes.

“Absolutely. I think it’s really important that women aren’t punished and have autonomy over their bodies. I think it’s outrageous [that they wouldn’t have body autonomy].”

The actor also spoke about the need for Irish society to have a more open and honest discussion about sexuality, and the importance of teaching consent as part of the school curriculum.

“I think sex education in Ireland has been lacking,” he said.

“It is three embarrassing pages in senior biology and then we skirt over it… we need to discuss what yes means and what no means and the psychology behind sex.”

He found it “deeply shocking” that Ireland’s sex education system had been unchanged in 20 years.

“We have sex recreational and procreational and need to discuss that… we need to not sweep the issue of sex under the carper because that is where all the insidious lies.”

The actor is currently staring in Mark O’Rowe’s new film The Delinquent Season.
