Kim Cattrall has addressed the thorny issue of the doomed third Sex and the City movie and her relationship with Sarah Jessica Parker in a new interview.

Speaking to Piers Morgan for Life Stories, Cattrall, who played Samantha Jones in the TV series and two movies, said she had never signed up to do Sex and the City 3.

The 61-year-old star also rejected allegations that she had made demands which caused the project to derail weeks before filming was due to begin.

SJP, who played Carrie opposite Cattrall, last week gave an interview to Extra in which she said, "It's over...we're not doing it.  I'm disappointed. We had this beautiful, funny, heartbreaking, joyful, very relatable script and story.

"It's not just disappointing that we don't get to tell the story and have that experience, but more so for that audience that has been so vocal in wanting another movie."

The Daily Mail had reported that Kim's alleged demands were the reason why the project folded but the actress took to Twitter to clear things up.

In her interview with Piers Morgan, which was taped on Monday, the Daily Mail reports that Cattrall further defends herself, revealing she had always said 'a respectful, firm no' to the project.

"And now, now at this very moment it’s quite extraordinary to get any kind of negative press about something that I’ve been saying for almost a year of 'no' that I’m demanding or a diva," she said.

"And this is really where I take to task the people from "Sex And The City" and specifically Sarah Jessica Parker in that I think she could have been nicer.  I really think she could have been nicer."

She added, "I never asked for money, I never asked for any projects, so to  be thought of as some kind of diva is absolutely ridiculous."
