She moved to Los Angeles to secure more work, but actress Ruth Bradley will soon be packing her bags to return to Ireland after lining up a lead role alongside

heavyweights Brendan Gleeson and Liam Cunningham.

The former Love/Hate star has secured the female lead in Pursuit, a contemporary action romance and is to be directed by Paul Mercier.

Ruth came to prominence as Mary, the fiesty sister of on-screen heartthrob Darren Treacy, played by Robert Sheehan in the gangland hit Love/Hate.

While she left RTE drama to take on Hollywood, she is now coming back to Dublin to being shooting Pursuit on July 14.

"Ruth has been abroad a lot the last couple of years and she's really built up strong credits," a source said.

"This is a fantastic part for her and to get to work with acting veterans like Brendan and Liam is a major coup."

The 27-year-old won praise, as well as a Best Actress IFTA, for her role in the movie Grabbers.

She featured in the silver screen adaptation of John Banville's Booker Prize winning novel The Sea and also featured in the 2007 cinema hit, Stardust.

Ruth is no stranger to American TV either, having played the protagonist in US science fiction show Horizon, appeared in ABC's pilot Beauty and the Beast and enjoyed a starring role in Disney's Big Thunder.

In addiction, she had a guest role on pal Amy Huberman's Comedy Central series Threesome.

Pursuit is being produced by Anne Gately with the backing of the BAI, The Irish Film Board, Telegael and TV3.

Actor Barry Ward and Owen Roe have also managed to secure roles in the project.
