Megan Fox has told critics of her forthcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie where to go in a heated rant against haters.

The US actress plays gutsy, turtle-loving reporter April O’Neil in the film, produced by Michael Bay, who sparked outrage among comic book fans when he hinted that the four title characters would come from “an alien race”.

But Fox hit back at the hoardes of doubters during a recent press conference, telling them to “f*** off”.

“Let me tell you something about those people: how much money did Transformers 4 make?” she said. “Those people can complain – they all go to the theatre.

“They’re going to love it and if they don’t love it, they can f**k off and that’s the end of that.”

William Fichtne, Alan Ritchson, Johnny Knoxville and Will Arnett also star in the film, about outcast brothers who rise from the sewers to help save New York City from Shredder and his Foot Clan.

The movie has been plagued by controversy since it was first announced, with fans angered by the idea of a reboot, the design of the heroes and indeed Fox’s own casting.

Even Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator Peter Laird expressed his belief that there are “probably hundreds of better choices for the role of April”.

Then there was that face-palm moment involving Paramount Australia’s promotional poster of the turtles falling from a burning New York skyscraper, captioned on Twitter: “Check out the official poster for #TMNT in cinemas September 11”.

Those willing to give Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles a chance can catch it in Ireland from 17 October. It is released a month earlier in the US, hitting cinemas this Friday.
