Mark Darcy lives! Colin Firth pictured on set of new Bridget Jones film - and Bridget has a bump
Colin Firth has been spotted filming the much-anticipated third instalment of the Bridget Jones franchise, titled Bridget Jones's Baby.
Firth, who plays Mark Darcy, was photographed looking dapper in a navy suit on set in Islington, north London.
His sartorial prowess aside, fans may not be pleased to hear that the star is not wearing a wedding ring in the photos.
The second film, Bridget Jones: The Edge Of Reason, ended with Bridget getting engaged to Mark Darcy.
Actress Renee Zellweger is back to reprise her famous role, 14 years after the first movie was released.
As to whether this hints at any upcoming storylines is not clear, as author Helen Fielding has not released much information.
In the last few days Zellweger was photographed sporting a large prosthetic bump as she filmed scenes outside Sainsbury's supermarket in Woolwich, south London.
Grey's Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey confirmed he will be starring in the movie via an Instagram photo posted in September.
He is rumoured to be playing a new love interest.
The first official image from the movie was released last week, and shows Zellweger smiling from behind an iPad.
Fielding released her third Bridget Jones novel, Mad About The Boy, in October 2013, but it is not clear if the new movie will follow the same plot or not.
In December 2013, Bridget fans were distraught after learning Helen Fielding killed off Mr Darcy in her book 'Mad About The Boy'.
At the time, the Oscar-winning actor said he took news of Darcy's death well.
"I took it in my stride. I've heard I that nearly wept or that I had to process it. I'm afraid... I tend to find the demise of a fictional character doesn't run very deep."
Colin (55), who starred alongside Renee Zellweger and Hugh Grant in the Bridget Jones films, has previously brushed off stories about a third film, saying: "It might be a bit of a long wait. I wouldn't say that it's completely dead in the water, but the way it's going you might be seeing Bridget Jones' granddaughter's story being told by the time we get there."
We. Cannot. Wait.
