Love/Hate and Eastenders star Denise McCormack lands role in new film from The Young Offenders producer
Denise McCormack recently surprised fans with her arrival on Albert Square with a plum role in Eastenders and now she's set to graduate to the big screen.
The Drimnagh actress has revealed that she has been cast in a film from MK1 productions, with one of the producers behind hit Irish flick The Young Offenders.
Speaking to Dave Fanning on RTE 2fm, she said, "It’s a Christmas movie for the American market that is being filmed in Ireland. I’ve got a nice role in it. That starts filming in February."
Last week the 41 year old former Love/Hate star appeared on Albert Square as new girl Ciara Maguire, the ex wife of criminal Aidan Maguire, played by fellow Irish star Patrick Bergin.
Ciara turned up in the aftermath of an armed robbery devised by Phil Mitchell’s pal Aidan which went horribly wrong and saw The Vic owner Mick (Danny Dyer) get shot.
However, Denise admitted that she was not a regular viewer of the long-running BBC soap before arriving on set.
"To be honest I watched it back in the day with Dirty Den and Angie and iconic characters like that. I don’t have time to be watching television. I had to brush up on it," she told Fanning.
Denise also revealed that she's as in the dark as fans about whether or not TV3 soap Red Rock will make a return.
