Lindsay Lohan wants Mean Girls 2 - with the girls as cheating housewives
Lindsay Lohan has expressed interest in reviving her breakthrough movie and cult hit Mean Girls with a sequel.
The 28-year-old actress told Time Out magazine that she has been pestering the film's writer and comic genius Tina Fey.
“I was with Tina Fey the other day and I said we should do another Mean Girls, like an older version where they’re all housewives and they’re all cheating," she said.
"That would be really funny. I’ll harass Tina to write it.”
Mean Girls, about a home-schooled teen who is fed to the bitchy lion clique when she joins the local high school, was released ten years ago but wasn't an immediate hit, failing to land in the top 10 at the box office.
However, it grew in popularity and spawned a spate of limp imitations. It also launched the careers of Amanda Seyfried and Rachel McAdams.
Lohan is currently bouncing back from stings in jail and rehab with a two-month West End run of David Mamet's play Speed-the-Plow in which she will play Karen, a role originally played by Madonna.
Speaking to The Sunday Times' Culture magazine recently, Lohan said she wanted to "win an Oscar" in five years' time and have two by 2024.
