Following his foray into erotic romance with Fifty Shades of Grey, Jamie Dornan will next star in an Irish film about the Congo.

Jadotville is a new war thriller, which will star Dornan and French actor/director Guillaume Canet, best known for his role in Danny Boyle’s The Beach.

The movie, which is based on a true story, will premiere online in 2016, and Jamie will play Commander Patrick Quinlan, who leads a 150-strong Irish UN battalion in a 1961 siege.

Guillaume will star as a French commander, who tries to defeat them.

Directed by Richie Smyth, a well-known commercial and music video director (U2, Bon Jovi, The Verve) and written by Kevin Brodbin (Constantine), Jadotville will be filmed in Ireland and South Africa.

It will screen on Netflix next year.
