Transformers star Jack Reynor has joined the cast of Ben Wheatley's crime thriller Free Fire.

Martin Scorsese executive produces the film which is set in the 1970s and stars Cillian Murphy and Michael Smiley as two Irishmen at the centre of an arms deal that goes wrong.

The all star cast also boasts Armie Hammer, Sharlto Copley, Sam Riley, and Brie Larson.  Luke Evans and Olivia Wilde had been lined-up for roles but had to pull out over scheduling conflicts.

Larson plays a woman who sets up a meeting between Murphy and Smiley and a gang (headed up by Hammer and Copley) who are selling them guns.

However, shots are fired and a tense stand-off ensues.

Reynor recently said he was taking a break for several months following the completion of several projects in a row, including the award-winning Glassland.  However, production has already started on Free Fire.

Cillian Murphy, meanwhile, is fresh from the success of Peaky Blinders.
