Irish actress Dominique McElligott has opened up about returning to Ireland for the first time in 10 years, and why she isn't on social media.
The Dublin native, who is set to star in Amazon Prime Video series The Last Tycoon, told Independent.ie that she won't be creating a social media profile any time soon because she likes to keep her private life under wraps.
"I’m not on social media, I’m quite old-school when it comes to that," she said.
"As an actor, I don’t want people to know too much about me so that they see me as the person in whatever role I’m in. I’m not against it, but I prefer being old-school."
Since finishing up production on her latest project, the House of Cards actress is set to return to Irish shores for the first time in a decade over the coming weeks.
"I’m really excited about coming back to Ireland. It’ll be my first time back here in 10 years or so, because I was living in London before I moved to Los Angeles.
"I’m trying to organise bringing my dogs home with me because I hope to be in Ireland for four months, so I’ll hopefully be home in a few weeks. I’m very excited."
Despite living in a city that many can only dream of visiting, there's one thing about Ireland that Dominique misses the most.
"I love the people, the humour and I really can’t wait for the seasons," she laughed.
"I never thought I’d say that, but after seven years in LA I can’t wait for some rain and to spend time with my family, friends and people I love.
"I’ve no plans to do anything, I just want to be lazy and take a break. I’m pretty content just to read books and do yoga."
The Last Tycoon is available July 28 on Amazon Prime Video. Customers who are not already Amazon Prime Video members can sign up for a free seven-day trial at PrimeVideo.com.
