It's that time of year again - there's a Fifty Shades flick hitting the big screen just in time for Valentine's Day.

Like the Sex and the City films before it, Fifty Shades has become something of an event release with women the nation over congregating with friends to watch it in groups.

Whether or not they're invested in the story itself (we suspect not) or simply revelling in it's unintentional hilariousness (it cannot be denied), it's guaranteed to smash the Irish box office.

Based on the best-selling novels of EL James, the series has been panned by critics but thus far has proven to be box office gold.  Fifty Shades of Grey (2015) had the tenth biggest opening weekend in Irish box office history, bagging a cool €1.3m.

For those who fancy a little tipple to get them in the mood, there's a 'VIP screening' at Omniplex, Rathmines, Dublin on opening night, February 9th.

For €15 you will be 'hosted in the VIP lounge and treated to a limited-edition Gordon's Pink Gin Sprtiz' before the movie.  The lounge opens at 7.30pm and the movie kicks off at 8.30pm.  Over 18s only of course.

Ffity Shades Freed is the third, and final, instalment in the 'erotic' film series which charts the troubled romance of S&M-loving billionaire Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) and his love interest Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson).

Now married they live a life of luxury and exotic holidays and all is well until an attractive new architect is employed to renovate their dream home.

Here's the trailer:
