High School Musical 4 is happening but Zac won't be back
Disney has announced a new instalment in the High School Musical series, a decade after the last.
The reboot of the franchise will not feature original stars Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens and co, but rather a brand new crop of all-singing, all-dancing triple threat kids.
Variety reports that Disney will launch a nationwide casting call in the US this spring to find the Zacs and Vanessas of the future.
Both those stars have gone on to forge successful acting careers in Hollywood, particularly Efron with roles in Bad Neighbours, Dirty Grandpa opposite Robert DeNiro and the upcoming Baywatch big screen outing.
Hudgens meanwhile recently appeared in a hugely successful live televised version of Grease.
It was only a matter of time before Disney resurrected HSM given the third feature, High School Musical: Senior Year, was a box office smash.
