The Dublin International Film Festival has secured a three year title sponsorship deal with premium car brand Audi.

From 2016, the festival will be known as the Audi Dublin International Film Festival.

Jameson had sponsored the festival from its beginning in 2003 and sponsorship was agreed initially for four years but ran to 13 due to its huge success.

However, 2015 was the last year Jameson sponsored the festival, which has hosted over 500 major guests including Irish stars Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson, Daniel Day Lewis, Cillian Murphy and international names including Mark Wahlberg, Al Pacino, and Glenn Close.

However, the festival, which is funded by the Arts Council and The Irish Film Board, will be working with Audi in 2016.

Of the sponsorship deal, Gaby Smyth, Chair of the Festival Board, said "We were impressed not only by the scale of their ambition, but also their passion for supporting and celebrating culture and their willingness to help in bringing the Festival to ever wider audiences.

"This new partnership marks the beginning of a fantastic new chapter for the festival. It's time now to focus on next year’s event, which is shaping up to be an exceptional programme.

"Since its inception in 2003, the festival has grown in breadth and quality of participation, recognition and international standing as can easily be evidenced through partnerships with brands such as Audi.”

Audi has previously partnered with the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, the Berlinale Festival and the Emmy Awards.
