Debra Messing slams E! on pay gap during interview with Guiliana Rancic for E! on Golden Globes red carpet
Will & Grace star Debra Messing called out entertainment channel E! on pay inequality on the Golden Globes red carpet - while being interviewed by E! presenter Guiliana Rancic.
“We want diversity, we want intersectional gender parity, we want equal pay,” she told Rancic.
“I was so shocked to hear that E! doesn’t believe in paying their female co-hosts the same as their male co-hosts. I mean, I miss Catt Sadler. We stand with her and that’s something that can change tomorrow. We want people to start having this conversation that women are just as valuable as men.”
Messing was referring to former E! host Catt Sadler (43)who left the network in December after she discovered she was being paid less than her male co-host Jason Kennedy (36).

Sadler, who had worked for E! for 12 years, revealed that she discovered he was being paid 'double' her salary just before she was due to negotiate an extended contract. Sadler said she asked to be compensated the same as Kennedy. The network refused.
At the Golden Globes last night the vast majority of female stars were wearing black in solidarity with victims of sexual harassment and assault.
The move was also designed to show their support for the Time Up movement which aims to eradicate assault and harassment for women who do not have access to media and funds when taking cases against perpetrators.
